Mumbai School asks principal to resign for liking pro-Palestine posts on social media
The management of a top school in Mumbai, Somaiya School located in the Vidyavihar area has asked its principal to resign for liking posts related to Palestine on social media.
The school stated that the decision was made to safeguard their commitment to unity and inclusivity.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the school expressed concerns over the principal’s social media activities, which it claimed were not aligned with the values cherished by the institution.
The statement read, “It has come to our attention that the social media activities of Parveen Shaikh have been starkly misaligned with the values we cherish.”
As a result, the management decided to discontinue Parveen Shaikh’s association with the school.
The school stressed the importance of responsible exercise of this right. The decision to ask the principal to resign was met with strong opposition from Parveen Shaikh, who labeled her termination as “completely illegal, drastic, and unwarranted.”
“My work as a school principal has been exceptional and my termination for such a reason is wrongful and unjust,” she claimed.
She expressed shock over what she described as a “politically motivated” action.
Shaikh voiced her belief in the Indian legal system and the Constitution.
She stated that she is currently exploring her legal options in response to the termination.
