Outlawed TTP plots to abduct KP police personnel

Memo says families of security personnel could also be targeted

Outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been planning to abduct police officers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to an internal memo by the provincial police department.

In an official statement issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police claims that the banned organization has devised a plan to target security forces and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police personnel, as well as their families.

Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has issued directives to the Counter-Terrorism Department’s Additional Inspector General, Deputy Inspectors General of Police across the province, and the Capital City Police Officer in Peshawar to remain on high alert.

The police chief has alerted the provincial police and security forces, urging them to be cautious as the police officers and security personnel have shared details of their locations, movements, images, and other information about their families on social media.

Teams of the TTP terrorists are said to be monitoring their activities through social media accounts.

The statement emphasizes that the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has strictly instructed all police officers and concerned personnel to remove their identities, details, and images from social media platforms immediately.

Additionally, they have been advised not to upload any information or images, including WhatsApp, to avoid any unpleasant situations.

Furthermore, the police chief has directed the families not to share their locations, transportation details, and current information on social media accounts or WhatsApp groups.
