AJK woman recovered 17 years after abduction
A woman abducted 17 years ago has been receovered from Toba Tek Singh.
Aasia Bibi is originally from Chakoti, in Azad Kashmir’s Hattian Bala district from where she had been displaced after the catastrophic earthquake in 2005.
The family moved to Islamabad from where Aasia was abducted by a man named Mustafa Kumar in 2007. The abduction occurred in the jurisdiction of Police Station Shehzad Town.
She was only 13 years old when she was taken away.
Aasia was sold to an elderly man where she stayed until a video of her narrating her ordeal went viral.
At this, the AJK government took notice and contacted the government of Pakistan.
She was found by police in Pit Mehal, Toba Tek Singh. She has now been moved to a Dar-ul-Aman and will soon be reunited with her family.
