Following the drone and missile attack by Tehran on Saturday, Iranian diplomats have issued a warning to the United States, emphasizing the need for them to refrain from involvement in the developing conflict between Iran and Israel.

The permanent mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations stated that the attack on Israel was a justified act of defense and a response to an alleged Israeli strike near the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, which resulted in the deaths of two senior officers from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In a social media post on Saturday, the Iranian mission cited Article 51 of the UN Charter, which pertains to legitimate defense, to explain their military action as a response to what they viewed as aggression by the Zionist regime against their diplomatic premises in Damascus.

They cautioned the U.S. to stay away from the conflict, stating that while the matter could be considered concluded, any further mistakes by Israel would elicit a significantly harsher response from Iran.

The warning was issued alongside Iran’s drone missile attack on Israel. The IDF spokesperson, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, described the Saturday attack as a direct and dangerous escalation from Tehran.

The IDF remains fully prepared with both defensive and offensive capabilities to face this large-scale attack from Iran. Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, called for action from the UN, accusing Iran of violating the UN Charter and posing a threat to global peace and security.

The ambassador expressed frustration at the lack of condemnation and urged the international community to wake up to the situation.

President Biden is receiving regular updates on the ongoing situation, while Israel remains on high alert with constant monitoring of the developments. Since the early April strike that resulted in the loss of multiple IRGC officials, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has repeatedly threatened Israel, vowing to deliver a strong response.
