To celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid Al Fitr, a Saudi man decided to give his wife a unique gift—a set of tires. The unconventional present was captured in an online video, where it can be seen accompanied by a bouquet of flowers.

In the video, the man explains that he had a conversation with his children about choosing a “practical” gift for their mother to mark the beginning of Eid, which started on Wednesday.

On previous occasions, the family had gifted their wife and mother accessories, gold, or perfumes. However, this time, they decided to surprise her with car tires.

The man admits that they were concerned about her reaction, but to their astonishment, she was delighted to receive the gift. He explains that aside from being a unique present, it was something she needed as her car tires were worn out.

In 2018, Saudi Arabia made history by lifting the decades-old ban on women driving, allowing them to drive for the first time. This monumental change has had a significant impact on the growth of the country’s car market.

Experts have revealed that car sales in Saudi Arabia reached approximately 730,000 vehicles last year, with 30% of those purchases made by women. It is projected that this year, the sales will surge to 870,000 in the kingdom.

The actual sales figures have exceeded the earlier projections made prior to the decision to allow women to drive. Initially, it was expected that by the year 2025, the sales would reach 577,000. However, in 2022 alone, the sales already surpassed these projections, reaching a total of 675,000 cars.

Overall, there has been an increase in the demand for cars in the kingdom, reversing a two-year decline that was caused by disruptions in supply chains due to global pandemic restrictions.
