The engine of a Southwest Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 broke off during takeoff in Denver. Fortunately, the aircraft made a safe landing.

A video of the incident was posted on social media platforms, showing the cover bursting open and aircraft shifted down on the runaway. 

A total of 135 people were onboard the incident, but all remained safe.

The Houston broadcaster KHOU attained air traffic control audio as the official could be heard asserting an emergency and asking the asking the plane to land.

Boeing has not commented on this issue yet, referring inquiries to Southwest Airlines.

On Sunday, the Federal Aviation Administration released a statement on the incident confirming that the plane landed safely at the Denver International Airport.

Southwest Airlines guaranteed that the passengers were safe and transferred to another aircraft.

“We apologize for the inconvenience of their delay, but we place our highest priority on ultimate safety for our customers and employees. Our maintenance teams are reviewing the aircraft,” the airline said.

Last week, a Southwest 737-800 flight did not take off at Texas’s Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport after engine issues were informed by the crew. 

Boeing has a Netherlands-based Airbus dominating the market. The company has faced challenges over its safety due to different fatal crashes involving the Boeing 737 MAX in 2018 and 2019, including less serious recent incidents.
