Pakistani national Seema Haider, who illegally entered India with her four children to unite with her Indian lover and is now residing in the Greater Noida area, has praised Narendra Modi for implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, a controversial law that has sparked debate in India.

Seema Haider, who claimed she had converted to Hinduism released a video-recorded message on Tuesday.

Haider expressed hope that this act would support her in getting Indian citizenship.

She recorded a video message with her Indian husband, Sachin Mena, and three of her four children.

She said she felt deep gratitude towards Modi who had introduced CAA.

“The Indian government has implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act today in our country. We are very happy about it and congratulate the government for it. Truly, what Modi ji has done is what he had promised. I will be indebted to them throughout my life and keep thanking them,” Haider said.

“As now my citizenship-related obstacles would also be removed with this law,” the Pakistani national said.

She signed off her video by reciting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘Radhe Radhe’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.

The Pakistani national also mentioned that her brother congratulated him on the new act by the Indian government that her citizenship-related challenges will be ‘removed.’

Seema was accompanied by her lawyer.

Advocate Singh also expressed his excitement into the announcement. Singh shared that this act opens up possibilities for many people trying to live in India from different countries.

“The decision would help people of different religions from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who were facing citizenship-associated problems in India,” he said.

Haider, however, would not benefit from this act as it emphasizes undocumented non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who entered India before December 2014.

The Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 grants way for people who came to India before December 31, 2014. This act will pave a path for Non-Muslims from Muslim-majority countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh for Indian citizenship.
