At least nine were killed including women and children when a wretched residential building collapsed in Multan, rescue officials said.

The district emergency officer said that the three-storey residential building was located in an area near Multan’s Sabeel Chowk.

According to the officer, the incident occurred on Monday night that claimed the lives of nine while two were injured.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene and retrieved all nine bodies and rescued the two injured who were moved to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

While the cause of the incident has not been determined, Multan’s Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Qadeer constituted teams to investigate the matter and also inspect the adjoining buildings and houses.
