The Jammat-e-Islami would protest at eight locations in Karachi against alleged rigging in the general elections on Sunday (today). The party is scheduled to protest at 4pm.

In a post on X, the JI announced that it would protest at Star Gate, Shahrah-e-Faisal; Korangi Dhai Number; Water Pump, Shahrah-e-Pakistan; UP Mor, North Karachi; Orangi, Poney Paanch Chowrangi; Hasan Square; Quaidabad Chowrangi; and Imtiaz Supermarket, Nazimabad Saath Number.

Pakistan’s general elections were held on 265 general seats in the lower house of Parliament. More than 90 independent candidates backed by former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party secured victory, according to the provisional results by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The religio-political party, along with the PTI, protested against the alleged rigging in polls outside the provincial election commission office in Karachi on Saturday.

Many protesters called for a recounting of votes or by-election, alleging that their rival candidates were declared winner despite trailing behind them by a big margin.
