The police in Karachi arrested more than 10 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who held a rally at Teen Talwar, police said on Sunday.

According to reports, PTI workers including women and children arrived at Teen Talwar and blocked the adjacent roads.

The PTI claimed that the police used tear gas against the workers who were holding an election rally.

Meanwhile, the Karachi police said that SHO Boat Basin Riaz Niazi was beaten up by the workers of a political party.

“Niazi has been moved to the hospital for treatment,” the police said in a post on X.

The rally was part of the call by the party leaders as they geared up for the upcoming election 2024.

Earlier today, the PTI called on the party’s supporters and ticket holders to organise public gatherings in each constituency to kick-off their electoral campaign.

In a message posted to X past midnight on Sunday, Barrister Gohar said that the instructions to organise power shows across the country had came from founding Chairman Imran Khan.

“Police are arresting peaceful people at Karachi during PTI’s rally. These are visuals of free and fair elections,” the party said in a post on X.

Another video, in which a large number of police personnel carrying sticks could be seen as a party banner and several flags lay on the floor.

“The police stormed the PTI rally with shamelessness and vandalised trucks and loudspeakers. On whose orders the people are being tortured for taking out a peaceful rally?” the party asked.
