Light rain in Karachi increases intensity of cold

Light rain in Karachi pushed down the temperature increased intensity of the cold on Monday. Meanwhile the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted fog in plain areas of all provinces.

Gurumandir, Lasbella, PECHS, Gulshan, Aisha Manzil F.B area and other areas of Karachi received light and moderate rain early in the morning.

A day before, the Met Office had predicted rain in the different parts of the provincial capital and had said the weather conditions would impact the temperature which was likely to decline after the downpours.

The minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded as 15 degrees Celcius. However, fog is likely to prevail in the plain areas of Sindi, including Jaccobabad, Hyderabad, Sukkar, Larlaka, Ghotki, and other parts of the province, according to PMD.

On the other hand, the PMD predicted severe cold and dry weather in north Balochistan while the northern areas of the country will experience chilly weather during the next 24 hours.

Dense fog and smog will also prevail in the plains of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Upper Sindh. There is a possibility of fog in some places in Kashmir during the morning hours as well.

In a bid to avoid any incidents, the authorities closed Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Islamabad, M2 from Balkasar to Islamabad, M3 from Faizpur to Darkhana and M4 from Abdul Hakeem to Faisalabad. Citizens have been advised by the authorities to avoid unnecessary travel.
