Wicketkeeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan has been named Pakistan’s new vice captain in T20 internationals.

Rizwan will assume his responsibilities in the upcoming series against New Zealand. The first match will begin in Auckland on January 12.

The 31-year-old also captains Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.

The team’s leadership has already undergone changes with Shaheen Shah Afridi taking over the captaincy of the T20 side.

Meanwhile, Shan Masood has taken over the captaincy of the test team.

The upheavel began in the aftermath of Pakistan’s disappointing World Cup campaign which led to Babar Azam stepping down from the captaincy from all formats.

Pakistan’s tour to Australia has gone off to a losing start, with the greenshirts losing all three test matches.
