The power tariff is likely to be increased by Rs4.66 per unit in December as the new prices will be decided after the approval of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

A petition was filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to NEPRA requesting to increase the tariff in account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA). The plea will be heard by the regulatory authority on December 27.

The increase of Rs 4.66 in tariff will impose a burden of Rs40 billion to consumers.

Earlier, the regulatory authority had increased the tariff by Rs3.07 at the commencement of December after approving the request filed by the DISCOS.
