The interim Afghan government has arrested and imprisoned around 40 members of the outlawed TTP in the last year, TOLO News quoted a government official as saying.

Abdul Mateen Qani, the spokesperson for the Afghan ministry of interior, said that those attempting to disturb the security in the country will be identified and arrested.

Speaking to TOLO News, Qani said that Kabul wanted good relations with neighbouring countries and would never allow Afghanistan’s soil to be used against other countries, including neighbouring countries.

“Today, there is no group operating in Afghanistan. There are a large number of Daesh captives with us, and around 35 to 40 TTP are imprisoned by us,” Qani added.

Pakistan has been asking the neighbouring country to not allow its soil to become a “launch pad for attacks”. A demand the interim government has vowed to fulfil. This is also what the Taliban government and the United States signed in the Doha agreement.

Regional countries also supported Pakistan’s demand and urged the interim Afghan government to take out all terrorist groups based in the country and to ensure that the country’s territory does not become a safe haven for terrorists.

During the fifth Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan in Russia in September, the Russian special envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, said the Taliban failed to take proper actions against the terrorist groups including Daesh in Afghanistan.

Earlier this month, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar warned terrorist groups in the country to make an “unconditional surrender”, saying the State would not negotiate with them.

“The State will not show any leniency towards terrorists who committed violence and killed innocent citizens,” he said in an interaction with the families of martyrs on December 11.
