The Supreme Court of Pakistan has fixed the presidential reference on Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for hearing.

A nine-member larger bench of the SC led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will take up the case on December 12.

The bench will include Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Syed Hassa nAzhar Rizvi and Justice Musarrat Hilali.

The presidential reference had been filed in April 2011 by then President Asif Ali Zardari.

The case was heard six times between January and November 2012 but has not been heard since.

The first five hearings were conducted by an 11-member bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. The last hearing was conducted by a nine-member bench.

The reference was filed under Article 186 and asks the SC to give its opinion on revisiting the the murder case that led to Bhutto’s death sentence.
