US delegation meets Pakistani officials
In the first round of talks between Pakistan and the United States this month, a delegation led by US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration Julieta Valls Noyes arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The US delegation was led by Julieta Valls, while Special Representative for Afghanistan Asif Durrani led the Pakistani delegation.
Delegation-level focused on the recent influx of foreign nationals living illegally in Pakistan, including the process of a large number of Afghan nationals returning their home.
The issue of Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan whose initial cases for resettlement in the United States have been settled was also discussed.
In the second phase of the talks, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West will visit Pakistan next week, followed by Elizabeth Hurst, who is Assistant Secretary of State.
Meanwhile, according to diplomatic sources in Islamabad, the visiting official will also meet partners from non-governmental and international organisations during her visit to Pakistan.
