Three arrested including Karachi policemen for alleged short-term kidnapping

Police say suspects abducted a businessman and demanded Rs2.9 million in ransom

Two Karachi policemen were among three arrested on Sunday who were allegedly involved in short-term kidnapping.

A police official said that the suspects had abducted a businessman, identified as Mirza Ihtisham Baig, and demanded Rs 2.9 million ransom from the family.

However, the suspects released the hostage after receiving the Rs 1.9 million ransom out of the total demanded amount, he added.

According to police, the suspects claimed to have been intelligence officers. The accused policemen were deployed in Garden Headquarters and Kalakot police station.

The police recovered a car, weapons, and cash from the suspects while raids were being carried out to arrest their accomplices.
