Foreign Office’s Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that the upcoming visit of the US officials was part of the routine.

“Pakistan and the US have been partners for a long time. We hold dialogues with the US on the economy, education, climate change, defence, and security,” she told Shaukat Piracha on Rubaroo.

She was responding to a question regarding the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West leading a delegation to Pakistan for a meeting with top-level officials in December.

Sources said that the discussion will focus on the issue of 25,000 Afghan refugees currently living in Pakistan but slated for rehabilitation in Western nations.

On the recent terror attacks in Pakistan, she said that the suspects had connections in groups based in Afghanistan.

“We want the Afghan government to take action, with demonstrable results. The Afghan government had ensured Pakistan and the world that it will not let its soil be used against any country,” she added.

According to the spokesperson, Pakistan always wished to have good economic and diplomatic relations with Afghanistan.

“Our only issue is the presence of safe havens for the [outlawed] TTP in the neighbouring country. We will keep pressuring them to take action against terrorist groups,” she said.

On India’s alleged assassination plots of Sikh leaders in the US and Canada, she said that India has carried out assassinations and abductions all over the South Asia region, especially in Pakistan.

“We have been asking the international community to pay attention to our concerns as India has been backing several terrorist actors active in Pakistan,” she added.

For Baloch, the international community now knows the truth about India’s extraterritorial killings around the world.

She called the situation in Gaza a painful moment as Israel resumed its aggression in the besieged strip.

“We have been saying that short-term pauses are not a solution. We demand a complete ceasefire in Gaza, West Bank, and other areas Israel has been bombing,” she said.
