Google’s Bard AI chatbot can now answer questions about YouTube videos
Google announced in an official blog post that its AI chatbot, Bard AI, can now answer questions about YouTube videos. While Google’s Bard AI could handle and analyze YouTube videos via an extension, the chatbot can now provide specific answers based on the content of a video.
According to Google, “For example, if you’re looking for videos on how to make olive oil cake, you can now also ask how many eggs the recipe in the first video requires.”
With the new ability of the Google Bard AI chatbot, instead of asking for a travel video, you can now ask Bard where the place is located.
This is fantastic because it allows you to interact deeply with YouTube videos, which was previously impossible with the YouTube Extension for Bard.
The ability of this Bard AI chatbot to deeply analyze YouTube videos stems from a feature that YouTube is separately testing that allows you to ask questions about videos. This is an opt-in experience for YouTube Premium customers that will summarize the video, recommend related videos, and provide more information about a topic. YouTube’s feature gathers data from the web and video.
Google Bard AI can answer questions about the video the user is watching, and the conversation takes place while the video is playing.
To provide an overview of the video, the summarizer employs generative AI. Users can carry on the conversation by asking follow-up questions. The good news is that, while still in testing, Google’s Bard AI new YouTube feature is available to all users.
