On several social media platforms, Australian batter Travis Head’s wife and daughter, who scored a century in the championship match, received threats of rape.

The Indian spouse of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has also disclosed that she has been the target of threatening messages from users on social media.

In addition, Jimmy Neesham, a cricket player from New Zealand, disclosed in his Instagram story that he had received threats from Indian cricket fans, claiming that the Indians were unable to distinguish between Australian and New Zealand players.

Other social media platforms are harshly criticising Indian cricket fan’s behaviour.

There have also been calls for immediate action against those who threatened to rape the Australian cricketer’s wife and one-year-old daughter and shut down their social media accounts.
