Unidentified men demolish school in KP’s Bajaur: official

Says they also took construction material with them

Unidentified men demolished a government primary school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district on Saturday night, Assistant Education Officer Haji Nazeer Mulakhail said.

“Unidentified men took advantage of the darkness to demolish the school at night,” he said and claimed that the miscreants also stole the construction material like T Iron and TR Garder.

The school is located in the Loe Mamund Tehsil of the district.

Mulakhail stated that the school was established through the funds of the Parents Teachers Council of the Education Department. As many as 400 students were enrolled in the school.

Earlier this year, a government primary school for girls in the Jani Shah Badan area of Mamund Teshil was closed for a month after its lone teacher appointed on temporary basis quit the job owing to nonpayment of salary.

Media reported that it was the lone school for girls in the area. More than 300 students were enrolled in the school established some five years ago.

More than 152,000 students are learning in 653 government institutions having more than 2,240 teachers, according to the KP government website.
