LHC orders ‘work from home’ policy amid smog in Lahore

Lahore High Court ordered that all offices workers should work from home two days per week as a measure against air pollution and smog.

The LHC once again took up petitions against environmental pollution and smog in the provincial capital on Monday.

The court remarked on Monday that the government had committed a mistake by initiating development projects and work should instead be pushed to February.

The bench also said that the government should take steps to promote cycling as a ‘culture’.

The court ordered that schools and offices should introduce work from home, and government offices should intoruduce two days per week of work home.

Government offices should buy electronic bikes for their workers, the court ordered.

Lahore’s smog problem has been intensifying in recent years and authorities scramble at the approach of winter season each year to bring it under control.

With AQI ratings above 400 earlier this month, Lahore was the declared the most polluted city in the world.

The government recently imposed smart lockdowns for four days to figh smog in multiple districts of Punjab.
