SHC orders ‘immediate’ removal of encroachments from Karachi highways

Concerned institutions should adopt a policy of zero tolerance against encroachment, Justice Nadeem Akhtar

The Sindh High Court ordered the immediate removal of encroachments from the main highways of Karachi.

A hearing was held on the petition against encroachment on main roads and important intersections in Karachi.

The Sindh High Court expressed its anger on the Deputy Commissioners and the Anti-Encroachment Force.

Justice Nadeem Akhtar said that the encroachments from Qayyumabad and other areas should be stopped, the encroachments on the sides of Qayyumabad flyover are encroachments.

He said that there are many encroachments around the highways of the city, and even if there is an operation, the encroachments are established again after a few days, it is the responsibility of the Commissioner and others to remove the encroachments.

Justice Nadeem Akhtar says that encroachments should be eliminated from the city within two days, and police check posts should be established within two days in those areas where more encroachments are established.

The judge also said that why there was a need for court orders to end the encroachments.
