Afghan refugees - NADRA is acting swiftly against fake identity cards: Jan Achakzai - Aaj News

The Balochistan government has blocked more than 100,000 illegal computerised national identity cards, caretaker provincial information minister Jan Achakzai said on Thursday.

In a press conference in Quetta, he said that those who made fake identity cards would not be forgiven and reiterated that Afghan nationals were found to be involved in recent terror incidents.

The government has launched a crackdown against illegal immigrants living in Pakistan after the deadline for their eviction ended on November 1. They have been kept in holding centres at border areas from where they are being sent home.

While speaking about the law and order situation, Achakzai said that the country knew how to end terrorism. “Our security forces are always ready,” he said and demanded that the interim Taliban government should hand over illegal Pakistanis living in Afghanistan to them while taking action against the outlawed TTP.

He clarified that the policy related to the eviction of immigrants would not be temporary and the action would continue until the return of the last illegal immigrant.

According to Achakzai, more than 10,000 immigrants were sent to Afghanistan via the Chaman border and over 300,000 have returned to the neighbouring country through the border crossing since the government made the announcement.
