The funeral prayers of the martyrs of Tirah operation were laid to rest with full military honours in their native towns on Tuesday, according to the Inter Services Public Relations.

In a statement, the military’s media wing said that the funeral prayers of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Hassan Haider, who was martyred in the general area of Tirah Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been offered at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi.

Four soldiers including a lieutenant colonel of the Pakistan Army were martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Tirah area of the Khyber district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.

The martyred soldier was buried with full military honour in the federal capital.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, interim Defence Minister Lt General (retd) Anwar Ali Hyder, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir and a large number of senior civil and military officers, soldiers, citizens and relatives of martyred attended the funeral.

Funeral prayers of Naik Khushdil Khan, Naik Rafique Khan, and Lance Naik Abdul Qadir were also offered in their respective hometowns.

“Armed forces of Pakistan stand resolute and committed to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the motherland at all cost,” the ISPR said.

In recent days, Pakistan has seen an uptick in terrorist activities with terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

At least 14 soldiers were martyred when two vehicles of security forces moving from Pasni to Ormara in Balochistan’s Gwadar district were ambushed by the terrorists on November 3.

Caretaker PM Kakar has vowed to continue the war against terrorism until the complete eradication of terrorism from the country.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari has stressed the need for conducting an action similar to that of the Swat operation to end terrorism in the country.
