Court orders confiscation of Karachi lion, slaps fine on owner
The additional district and session judge South has slapped a Rs312,000 fine on the owner a lion that escaped from a vehicle and wandered on the Shahrah-e-Faisal in late August.
The court has ordered to confiscate the wild animal which is currently put at the Karachi Zoo on the earlier orders of the court.
The wildlife department of Sindh filed the first information report against five people including the owner of the lion that suddenly appeared on Shahrah-e-Faisal on August 29 evening. The lion attacked a man as well who fortunately remained safe.
The police had said that the lion was being moved in a vehicle, but it escaped through the window.
The lion was eventually caught after it roamed around the Shahrah-e-Faisal for a brief period of time. It was then shifted to the wildlife office in a cage and later handed over to the Karachi Zoo.
