Man arrested for making fake call to 15 Police helpline

Police I. Punjab’s Bhalwal have arrested a man for making a fake call on the 15 helpline about robbery, the first information report has been registered against the accused.

In Muazzamabad of Bhalwal, Punjab, a resident, Bilal Ahmed with alleged malafide intention, made a fake call to 15 helpline (Pukaar) and informed police that the dacoits had snatched his cash amount worth Rs700,000.

Police reached the spot and initiated the probe in which the caller admitted that he had made a fake call.

The station house officer told reporters that Ahmed wanted to embezzl his uncle’s money, so he hatched a plan to involve the police.

The police, however, foiled his plan and recovered the money. A case has been registered against the accused, and police have opened investigation into the matter.

The district police officer has urged people not to make fake calls on the helpline as it has been set up to assist people when they are in problems.
