Ranipur murder case: Prime suspect Hina Shah arrested outside court

The police arrested Hina Shah, the prime suspect in the Fatima Firoro murder case on Tuesday after a court canceled her bail.

The Ranipur police arrested Hina Shah outside the Sindh High Court’s Hyderabad Bench.

Fatima, 10, was found dead on August 13 in Asad Shah’s mansion in the Ranipur taluka of Khairpur district. Initial reports claimed she was killed and that marks of torture were found on her body.

She worked as a maid in Shah’s house and was buried without a post-mortem examination. Her body was later exhumed for a post-mortem examination where police said that she was raped before she died.

SSP of Khairpur Sami Ullah Soomro said that the Fayyaz Shah had convinced his daughter to surrender before the police three days after he was arrested.

Hina was moved to the Women’s Police Centre Khairpur and will be produced before the anti-terrorism court tomorrow (Wednesday).

Asad Shah, the other prime suspect in the case, is already in police custody.

Hina’s father Fayyaz Shah was arrested from his haveli in the Fatima murder case on September 22. Shah had secured bail from the Sindh High Court’s Hyderabad Bench.

She had been in hiding and evading arrest as police carried out raids to arrest her.

On September 13, Police conducted a raid to arrest Hina Shah and her father Fayyaz Shah, but both managed to escape.

Khairpur and Karachi police raided the house of Fayyaz Shah’s brother, Syed Niyaz Shah in Karachi after police had received a tip-off that the culprits could be hiding at the residence. However, both the accused managed to evade the police and escape.
