The valima reception of fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was held at a private hotel in Islamabad on Thursday, with people from showbiz and sports fraternity attending the event.

Shaheen wore a black suit and a special stage was designed for the bride and groom. A special arrangement was made for more than 800 guests.

The valima was held one day after the wedding ceremony of Shaheen with Ansha Afridi, Shahid Afridi’s daughter, in Karachi on Tuesday.

The couple tied the knot in a private nikkah ceremony earlier this year.

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam and other national team players were also present. In one of the videos that surfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, he was seen walking in the aisle with cricketer Imamul Haq.

In another video, Shaheen was seen posing for his Lahore Qalandars teammates and Aqib Javed.

Olympian Arshad Nadeem, former Inter-Services Public Relations director general Asif Ghafoor were also seen in videos and pictures going viral on social media.

On Monday, the mehndi ceremony was held at Shahid Afridi’s house with only relatives and close friends in attendance.

Shaheen and Ansha tied the knot in a daytime nikkah in Karachi on February 03, 2021. The reception was held for the couple at the DHA Golf and Country Club after their nikkah.
