Anti-terrorism court grants bail to Pervaiz Elahi
Former Punjab Chief Minister Perviaz Elahi was granted bail by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Friday.
Elahi is on remand for alleged involvement in a case of attack on the Judicial Complex in Islamabad in march this year when PTI chairman Imran Khan was appearing in a case.
ATC Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain granted bail to Elahi and asked him to submit surety bonds worth Rs20,000.
The prosecutor told the judge that Elahi had been arrested on the basis of a report by an ‘informant’. He added that the sections added to the FIR did not allow for bail to be granted.
After the prosecutor completed his arguments, Judge Zulqurnain started dictating the judgement in open court.
The judge ruled that Elahi was not even nominated in the FIR for the case in which he had been arrested. He also said that nothing had come out of the investigation despite Elahi being remanded for three days.
He then ordered that Elahi should be released on bail against surety bonds.
