The Pakistan Peoples Party has extended an invitation to its legal expert Latif Khosa for the central executive committee meeting in Lahore which will be presided over by party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

They added that Khosa along with lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan chose to give a strong response to the PML-N, they added.

The central executive committee meeting is scheduled to be held on September 14 in Punjab’s provincial capital, according to media reports.

“I am on my way to Lahore. When we will reach Lahore hopefully, another central executive meeting of the PPP will be held. If anyone has any other view he can present to us,” PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told reporters on September 10.

Media reports said that the PPP suspended the basic membership of Ahsan and Khosa reportedly for violating the party’s discipline in June. In the same month, PTI Chairman Imran Khan met with him and the latter expressed hope of working with the legal team of the former.

They alleged the two legal experts were given an invitation under the reconciliation policy of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Ahsan and Khosa won’t be stopped from attending the meeting, sources said and added that Bilawal and Zardari would attend the meeting.

The recent political developments have shown that the PPP seemed to be divided on elections, as Bilawal has been pressing for elections within 90 days following assembly dissolution while Zardari has supported the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision to conduct the delimitation of constituencies following the census result.

Bilawal has been of the view that elections could be held in 60 days if not 90 days.

“Jiyalas [a term used for PPP supporters] are waiting for when the Election Commission of Pakistan will release the schedule for the upcoming general elections so that they can start the election campaign,” he was quoted as saying in a press issued by the party.
