The Punjab government on Monday announced free travel for elders and students on metro buses across the province and Lahore’s Orange Line trains.

The decision was taken in the 25th cabinet meeting chaired by caretaker chief minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi.

As per the announcement, students in uniforms and senior citizens can take free services of Orange Line metro train, metro bus services and speedo bus for all days of the week.

Moreover, the meeting also approved the summary of minimum labour wages worth Rs.32,000.

The chief minister directed the authorities to immediately notify the decision so that they take effect.

Last year, when Pervez Elahi was leading the Punjab government, he announced the provision of free services for senior citizens and differently-abled people while he announced special discounts for women and students.
