The family of Urfan Sharif, father of Sara who was found dead in Surrey, UK are negotiating with notable people and politicians for the fugitives to hand themselves in to the authorities, The Guardian reported.

Sharif is on the run in Pakistan with his wife Beenash Batool, brother Faisal Malik and his five other children for over a month after he arrived in Pakistan and called the UK to report that his daughter was dead at his home near Woking.

Sara Sharif, 10 was found dead at a property in Woking, Surrey the UK in the early hours of August 10.

Muhammad Sharif, Sara’s grandfather and a police official confirmed that talks have been held for the fugitives to come out of hiding and surrender to the British authorities. They are said to be frightened of ill-treatment by police.

According to Sharif, his son sent him a voice note earlier this week asking for advice and that he was persuading Sara’ father to come forward and defend him in court of law.

“I got in contact with Urfan earlier this week for the first time since his hiding,” Sharif senior said, speaking outside his home in Jhelum, Punjab.

“He contacted me through voice message. I urged him to surrender as we [the family] are unable to bear this pressure now. We cannot bear the police pressure and more arrests,” he added.

A police official said that the fugitives are afraid of the police who, with the help of influential people and politicians, are persuading them to surrender and ensuring them that they will not be harmed and will be presented before the court.

Several members of the family have been detained by the police while a few of them are held in secret locations by Jhelum police in order to force the runaways to come forward, and to avoid the intervention of the courts, methods that were labelled as “unconstitutional colonial tactics”

In an attempt to increase the pressure on the fugitives, police are reported to have now made further threats to go after the women in the family.
