PTI’s Haider Majeed handed over to military court for trial, court told
PTI lawyer Haider Majeed was handed over to the military for trial for further investigation for his alleged involvement in the May 9 events, according to a police report submitted to the Lahore High Court on Monday.
The report was submitted by Additional Advocate General for Punjab Ghulam Sarwar Nihang during the hearing of a petition pertaining to the release of Majeed. He is said to be a partner of another PTI leader Hassaan Niazi.
The information comes days after the court was told that Hassaan was sent to the military for trial.
The authority concerned was investigating Majeed, the report said. The prosecutor sought time to file a response to the petitioner’s request, which the court granted and adjourned the hearing till August 22.
Violent protests broke out on May 9 after PTI chief Imran Khan was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court. Many people attacked state buildings and military installations.
