Protests by students and schools bore fruit as Cambridge International Education announced it would reschedule examinations that could not take place in May this year.

CIE said that the rescheduled exams will take place in October and no extra charges will have to be paid by students.

Officials from the CIE met represenatives of multiple schools where a barrage of complaints was launched against marking meted out in recently announced results.

Many students had been unable to appear for the exams on May 11, 12 and 13 due to the tense atmosphere in the country after the protests of May 9. They will now be afforded a chance to reappear.

The British Council will also prepare a low-cost logistics plan for the exams to be organised.

However, individual cases where students managed to appear for the exam but have reservations will be dealt by separate complaints.

In individual cases, fees will have to be paid but 80% will be borne by the school and 20% by the parents of the students.
