The Pakistan Cricket Board has uploaded a new video as part of its promotional campaign leading to the 50-over cricket World Cup 2023 and this time it includes clips of former cricketer Imran Khan.

“One of the videos was uploaded on 14th August 2023. Due to its length, the video was abridged and some important clips were missing,” the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “This has been rectified in the complete version of the video.”

The new video comes after many social media users criticised the national cricket board for omitting Khan from the video in the promotional campaign. The first one did not feature the former skipper in the clips from the 1992 World Cup victory.

The video clip also drew a strong reaction from legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram. He demanded of the PCB to delete the video and apologise.

“Political differences apart but Imran Khan is an icon of world cricket and developed Pakistan into a strong unit in his time and gave us a pathway…” he wrote on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Khan was shown five times in the video as compared to the previous clip where the former skipper was shown for a split second holding the world cup trophy. The clips contained his moments from the 1992 World Cup.

The video shared by the PCB on X starts with a quote from Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and goes to show Pakistan’s debut in international cricket in 1952, winning the 1992 World Cup, Champions Trophy and the T20 World Cup 2022 where Pakistan was runner-up.
