High-profile committee meeting summoned to decide Pakistan’s WC participation
A high-profile committee meeting has been summoned for August 3 to discuss Pakisan’s participation in the ICC World Cup in India.
The committee is chaired by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Law Minister Azam Tarar, Inter-provincial Coordination Minister Ehsan Mazari and Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.
The heads of the country’s security agencies, the foreign secretary as well as Qamar Zaman Kaira, Amin ul Haque and Asad Mahmood.
The committee will develop recommendations regarding the country’s participation in the world cup including whether Pakistan should participate or not. The recommendations will then be sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for approval.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has tied the national team’s participation in cricket;s biggest tournament to government approval.
The world cup will begin on October 5 and Pakistan will clash with hosts India on October 14.
