Police obtain phone and car used by Yasmin Rashid on May 9

Punjab police has managed to obtain the vehicle and smartphone used by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Yasmin Rashid during the violent protests of May 9.

A police team went to jail to interrogate Dr Yasmin who has been imprisoned in connection with the protests and has been regilarly been brought to court.

Police sources also claimed Rashid had told them that people had been gathered for the protest. Her phone has been sent for forensice analysis.

Videos from May 9 had shown the PTI leader sitting on a vehicle as the crowd proceeded towards the corps commander House in Lahore. Some videos had shown her spaking into a microphone, asking the portestors to avoid ‘mischief’.

However, the protestors had proceeded to ransack the house and set it on fire.

In the crackdown that followed, Rashid was among the PTI leaders rounded up and sent to prison. As president of the party’s Punjab chapter, she has been accused of being one of the main instigators of the protest.

Investigations by the police had also claimed that many important PTI leaders were in touch with the protestors in and near the corps commander house. It had been claimed that Rashid alone made 41 phone calls with protestors inside the house during the protest.
