Pakistan and India are not the only countries currently discussing cyclone Biparjoy. The news about the very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS) has reached outer space.

That’s right, a UAE astronaut, who is currently based at the International Space Station, captured a glimpse of the cyclone.

Sultan Al Neyadi urged the people to stay safe amidst the storm. “We are currently flying over Arabian Peninsula, specifically UAE. We are currently attempting to capture photographs of the eye (centre) of the storm or the cyclone.”

“We will maintain the downward orientation of the camera. While using the high zoom, I will capture regular photos using my camera.”

He claimed that the ISS can assist experts on Earth in weather monitoring. “Are you seeing these thunderstorms, but now I can see the centre of the cyclone.”

“But these are the pictures you see of the Arabian Sea. This is our coverage for today. We shall share these captured photos with you,” he concluded.

Cyclone Biparjoy is currently 350km south of Karachi, and and 360km south of Thatta. Maximum sustained surface winds were 140-150km/hr gusts 170km/hr around the system centre and sea conditions were phenomenal around the system centre with a maximum wave height of 30ft.

It is expected to make an impact by Thursday.
