PDM is a ruling coalition not electoral alliance: Fazl
Pakistan Democratic Movement President Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that their alliance with other parties was for the purpose of government and all parties would go into elections individually.
Speaking to the press after condoling with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq over his brother’s death, Maulana said that small seat adjustments could be made between the PDM parties on a local basis, but the parties would run their own election campaigns.
“We are people who go for elections,” he said.
He added that the PDM had always arrived unanimous decisions even if there were disagreements within the alliance and the election date would be announced after agreement.
However, he did not answer questions about deliberations over whether PTI should be banned.
“The courts will have to make that decision, and if they do then good riddance.”
Responding to a question about how the state reacted to TLP compared to the PTI, Maulana said TLP’s protests had been completely political while PTI had resorted to attacking military installations.
“The army act will have to come into action,” Fazal said, “this is a situation that has never happened before.”
He added that PTI was receiving alot of projection from international media but their gatherings were still small compared to the PDM.
