The Ministry of Finance has recommended a 15 to 20 percent increase in salaries of government employees, Aaj News reported Thursday.

The preparation of budget 2023-24 is underway and it emerged that the government is planning to give a reasonable increment to its employees.

An increase of 20 percent and 15 percent is expected for government employees and pensioners respectively, while EOBI is proposed to have separate funds for pensioners, sources said.

The recommendations and proposals have been prepared initially by the Finance Division, while the final decision will be made by the federal cabinet.

According to sources, the federal cabinet will meet in the first week of June regarding the budget recommendations. The federal budget 2023-24 will be presented in the National Assembly on June 9.
