WhatsApp is set to introduce an ‘edit’ feature that will work for 15 minutes after the message is posted.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement on Facebook on Monday.

“You can now edit your WhatsApp messages up to 15 mins after they’re sent!” he wrote.

The image he posted showed an edit option appearing on a message as a pop-up. The message already has a reaction emoji on it, meaning it has already been seen and replied to by the person receiving the message.

However, the date for the rollout of the new feature has not been announced yet.

WhatsApp does not have an edit option until now and the only solution to correcting a message carrying an error is to send another message or remove it completely. In case of removal, the application shows a message saying that the message was deleted. The deletion feature was not an original feature and was introduced in 2017.

Zuckerberg also recently announced that a single WhatsApp account would be available for use on multiple platforms.

The popular messaging application was first created in 2009 and was acquired by Facebook in 2014. It is now part of Meta’s properties which also owns Facebook and Instagram.
