PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal has blamed PTI chief Imran Khan for May 9 riots, saying that the former prime minister was frequently making attempts to malign the establishment for “again bringing him to power”.

“There is a method in every madness,” he said at a press conference Narowal which was focused on May 9 violence. “This was not a reaction but a planning.”

The planning minister was speaking about the attack on state buildings in the wake of Khan’s arrest on May 9. “Those who were doing this were not unidentified but identified because they were office bearers of PTI,” Iqbal said and added that the PTI chief’s accusations against the agency would not absolve him from the violent protests.

“All these [attacks] were pre-planned and these sites were chosen which were linked to Pakistan’s security and development,” Iqbal said.

In reaction to West concerns over Pakistan’s situation, the PML-N leader wondered whether the US would pardon the rioters of Capitol Hill or the United Kingdom government release rioters who disturbed law and order when David Cameron was the PM.

The police raided PTI leader Murad Saeed’s house in Kabal town of Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, claims party. In the wake of the May 9 riots, the police have started arresting PTI leaders under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance.

A video shared by the PTI on Twitter showed that elite force members of the police climbed the gate of Saeed’s house. But the PTI leader was not there.

The government has claimed that the PTI’s leadership backed the May 9 violent protests following former premier Imran Khan’s arrest. They have accused the central leadership of PTI of inciting the people to protest, which led to attack on state buildings.

In his tweet, Saeed claimed that he “talked about peace and is fallible — do not want to push my people in someone else’s fire.”

He described the raid as “an armed foray”, alleging that he did not bargain on the country’s honour and did not keep the nation’s honour in a mortgage. “Trampling our privacy is bound to be done.”

The party claimed that Saeed was facing serious life threats. In his video message a few days ago, he alleged that there were ill plans to “shoot him on sight” and the police would blame it on resistance shown by him during the arrest.

The former ruling party urged the international human rights community to raise their voice for him.
