JI Emir Sirajul Haq narrowly escapes suicide attack in Balochistan
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq has narrowly escaped a suicide attack in Balochistan’s Zhob.
JI leader Liaqat Baloch said that nine party workers were wounded in the attack, of which four were in serious condition.
Reports said that the alleged suicide bomber’s vest did not fully explode, leaving him either severely wounded or injured on the ground.
The JI Emir had just arrived in Zhob, where he was to address a political rally. He was entering the city in a convoy when a suicide bomber blew himself, said JI spokesperson Qasier Sharif.
Sharif said the bombing wounded a few people but Sirajul Haq remained unhurt and later left for Zhob.
A video clip obtained by AAj News shows smoke covering part of a road as people gather around a person lying on the ground.
Initial investigation revealed that the bomber’s vest carried upto eight kilograms of explosive material.
