Shahid Afridi gifts Legends League trophy to people of Afghanistan
In a heartwarming gesture, Pakistan legend and captain of the Asia Lions Shahid Afridi has gifted the Legends League trophy to the people of Afghanistan.
Asia Giants thrashed World Giants in the final by seven wickets in the final on Monday.
Following the game, a clip from the dressing room of the champions went viral, where Shahid Afridi can be seen standing with teammates including former Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan, pacer Shoaib Akhtar, all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, and batter Misbah ul Haq.
“Alhamdulillah, we won the trophy thanks to the effort from all the boys,” he said. “This trophy, I am especially giving to Asghar, which means I am giving it to the people of Afghanistan from all of us.”
Earlier, former Sri Lankan batters Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan put up a brilliant 115-run opening stand as Asia Lions chased down a 148-run target with 23 balls to spare.
