PTI chief Imran Khan and leader of archrival party, PML-N, Maryam Nawaz traded barbs on Saturday over the criticism of the judiciary. Both sides took to Twitter to release their anger amid the ongoing political situation.

It started with Imran describing Maryam as a “spoilt brat”. He claimed that the ruling coalition and the PML-N have made “calculated and shameless attacks” on the apex court judges to run away from elections.

His comments came after three political parties from the government objected to two judges hearing the case on the delay in elections in KP and Punjab in the Supreme Court. They have said Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi should recuse themselves.

Separately, Maryam has claimed that the two sitting judges had taken it upon themselves to bring Imran back to power. She urged the judges to know more about the former judges, who she claimed supported Imran and helped ousted his father while addressing a party workers’ convention in Sargodha on Thursday.

“By attacking the SCP [Supreme Court of Pakistan], they are damaging the federation and ensuring law of jungle prevails in Pak,” Imran said in his tweet.

Pakistan’s political crisis deepened when the PTI dissolved provincial assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to press the government for early elections. The former ruling party was of the view that the interim set up would soon give a date, however, neither the Election Commission of Pakistan nor the caretaker government have given any date.

Amidst this, President Arif Alvi announced this week that general elections for the provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be held on April 9. It drew the government’s ire. Moreover, the Supreme Court to took a suo motu notice on the delay in polls.

Maryam, who is tasked with re-organising the party with a new role, slammed the PTI chief in her replies.

“Oh, how the mighty have fallen!Your squeals are not amiss as you have been the king of conspiracies, thriving & surviving on them with the help of your Godfather Faiz & his vestiges. Now watch the ‘spoilt brat’ checkmate you so Godsons & pawns like you are relegated to irrelevance,” she said.

The PML-N vice president was of the view that the PTI chief’s narrative of “hurling accusations” has fallen flat. She mentioned the allegations of stealing state gifts against Imran.

“You [Imran Khan] are the first ever PM to be guilty of all forms of corruption,” she added.

Maryam claimed that Imran’s attempt to skip court hearings was proof that he was guilty.

Her diatribe was apparently linked to Imran’s protective bail that he got this week from the Lahore High Court in a case registered at Sangjani police station. The PTI chief had told the court that it would take him three months to recover.

“Plastered leg will no more save you. Man up & face the law,” Maryam said.
