Peshawar Zalmi president Inzam ul Haq has said that the 2017 champions will prevail under Babar Azam’s captaincy as he is looking forward to working with the Pakistan skipper.

In a bizarre turn of events, the 28-year-old joined Peshawar Zalmi and was named captain after spending six seasons with Karachi Kings.

His first outing in black and yellow wasn’t fruitful as Zalmi suffered a defeat in the exhibition match against rivals Quetta Gladiators.

Despite that defeat, Inzam was optimistic that Peshawar Zalmi will prevail under Babar Azam’s leadership.

“Babar Azam is the number one batter in every format, everyone knows that,” he told media at the National Bank Cricket Arena. “If you talk about weakness, it will continue till the end of the career. It’s impossible to be perfect.”

“I think he will do go good for Peshawar Zalmi as you continue to learn in your life,” he said. “The way Babar is performing and day-by-day he is improving, it is a good sign for us and for him. I’m looking forward to working with him in the PSL.”

On a lighter note, he said that at the moment no one can dismiss the Pakistan all-format captain.

He termed the PSL as a great opportunity for the upcoming cricketers.

“Many players have come through the PSL,” he said. “It is a great opportunity for the youngsters to share the dressing room with the foreign players. Not only that, they get to see them 24/7 for a month.”

“This is the best opportunity for them to adapt to their approach, which has created a difference,” he concluded.
