Supernova trophy: Old PSL trophy with a new makeover?
You might have seen the new Pakistan Super League (PSL) trophy ‘Supernova’ by now, and are in awe of the glittering 24-carat gold silverware.
However, the design of the Supernova resembles to a trophy used in early PSL editions.
By now you might have guessed, which silverware it resembles too, if not, let us take you back in PSL season four, when Quetta Gladiators won the title.
The Supernova has similar design elements of the trophy used in 2019. Its number of pillars – three in Supernova and six in the 2019 trophy – make the two trophies a bit different but somewhat carries that same design philosophy.
Moreover, both of them have a star at the top, the only difference is one is made out of gold and other one is crystal.

The trophy was unveiled in a ceremony at the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore by the Chair of the PCB Management Committee, Najam Sethi, in the presence of franchise owners, HBL representatives and elite cricketers.
The 24-karat Supernova Trophy has been made in Pakistan and showcases the country’s skilled craftsmanship.
The three pillars of the trophy, which are studded with 9,907 sparkling zircon stones, represent the national cricket team’s motto: Unity, Passion, and Strength, while the main pillar at the back is further embellished with crystals, representing the dedication and hard work that has gone into ensuring the team’s success.
