Usama Mir was deservingly rewarded for his outstanding first-class season, as he got the maiden call into the Pakistan squad for New Zealand ODIs.

The three-match series will commence from January 09 at the National Bank Cricket Arena – the same venue where both teams lock horns in the two-match Test series.

With a record 28 wickets in 11 games, he was on the radar of the interim selection committee led by former captain Shahid Afridi.

Reacting to his maiden ODI call on Twitter, the wrist-spinner said it was the best days of his life.

Usama was not named among 24 probables for the series, but due to vice-captain Shadab Khan’s finger injury, he got the place in the final 16.

Shadab returned to Pakistan after getting injured during Big Bash League (BBL).

Usama was the top wicket-taker and helped his team Central Punjab (CP) bag the Pakistan Cup title.
