Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Thursday that his rivals who had dared him to go ahead with the dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies had suddenly filed two motions to stop it from happening. Meanwhile, PTI supporters protested outside the Punjab Governor House to stop incumbent Balighur Rehman from ‘de-notifying’ the Punjab chief minister as the political crisis in Pakistan’s biggest province refuses to abate.

“Initially, the PML-N was challenging us to dissolve assemblies, saying that they were ready for elections. When we did that, a vote of confidence and no-trust motions were moved in the Punjab Assembly,” he said in a virtual address to supporters gathered outside the Governor House.

Imran khan said that it was their constitutional right to dissolve the assemblies and go for elections. “These people are scared, that’s why they are talking about imposing governor rule in Punjab.”

He questioned if anyone would want to topple his own government, saying that his party was dissolving the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies even though they were in power in both provinces.

The ousted premier said that he had been demanding early polls not for PTI but for the country, adding that 70% of Pakistanis were demanding immediate elections.

The PTI chief without naming anybody said one man’s decision toppled his government. “One person was responsible for the country’s economic woes,” he said.

“I want to remind the nation that the toppled government took the country towards economic progress,” he said and added that not a single thing had improved during 8 months and that the country had plunged into a crisis due to the decision of one man.
